(The Corp) opened More Uncommon Grounds (MUG) in April of 1999 in the 3rd floor galleria of the ICC. The store initially just sold coffee, but in subsequent years expanded to offer more products. Georgetown University and the Corp stated in the initial lease that 10% of MUG’s annual profit would be paid each year as “rent” in the form of scholarships. Since then, the Corp has given out thousands of dollars each year to Georgetown students. The scholarships are available to any Georgetown undergraduate student, regardless of need. They are a way of thanking and rewarding hardworking Hoyas and giving back to our larger community.
