Who are we?

The “Re-imagine Georgetown” Partnership is a student partnership dedicated to empowering individuals to improve the undergraduate experience in innovative ways. We are leaders from the Corp, GUASFCU and the Hoya with the pleasure of administering the Re-Imagine Georgetown Grant. In a spirit of collaboration, we serve on the Grant Committee to encourage thoughtful applications and select those with the most promise of positive impact for Georgetown. We are passionate about creative ideas and well-designed proposals that can change the hilltop. And we can’t wait to meet you!

What is a “Re-imagine Georgetown” grant?
  • It’s anything you want, actually. We fund projects between $500 and $10,000 that seek to improve our undergraduate experience at Georgetown in creative ways. Only current undergraduate students are eligible to apply for a grant.
  • Previous winners of the grant include the founders of the Run for Rigby, a 5K road race through most of campus and West Georgetown that raises money for off-campus fire safety and the Daniel H. Rigby Memorial Scholarship Fund in dedication to Daniel Rigby, a fellow Hoya who passed away in a tragic house fire in October 2004.
  • In 2008, Reimagine Georgetown donated to Harakat: a tremendously successful Arab cultural celebration on the Leavey Esplanade and to the Twenty-Five Days of Service Initiative which brought fifty different campus groups into parternship to participate in various community service events in the DC area.
  • Check out and read about the Reimagine Georgetown grant winners for the academic years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.

Past “Re-imagine Georgetown” grant winners:
  • Breaking the Bubble,” founded by Kitt Wolfenden (SFS ‘12) and Sammy Magnuson (COL ‘12), is a 2010 Re-Imagine Georgetown winner. By providing a pre-set itinerary, subsidizing transportation and activity costs, and encouraging a comfortable group atmosphere, Breaking the Bubble aims to help Georgetown students get off campus and explore the District. Their kick-off events this fall are “Exhibits and Empanadas” in Dupont and “Food Truck Tapas” in Columbia Heights, while later events will include a U St. Jazz tour and a Chinatown trip. Those interested in attending a “Breaking the Bubble” event should check out the website BreakingtheBubble.com or contact btbgeorgetown@gmail.com.
  • Bre Donald (NHS ‘12) and Melissa Gadsden (NHS ‘12) were awarded RIG grant money for their oustanding proposal to bring a farmer’s market to Georgetown. The high impact on the undergraduate quality of life is thanks in part to the quality of vendors attracted and the high profile location of the market on Healy Lawn. Collaboration with faculty form the NHS and many university administrators made this enterprise a success. Check out what the entire bustle is about on Wednesday afternoons this fall.
