The UG Arts Scholarship

What: The UG Arts Scholarship is a merit-based grant for student artists; visual and performing (this includes studio art, photography, music, theater, dance, etc.) We are looking for innovative, talented applicants who demonstrate a strong passion for, and dedication to, the arts.

Details: We will be giving three separate scholarships ($250, $500, $1,000) to individuals selected based on their applications and interviews. As a winner, you will be required to use this money to complete a specific project that will be showcased in UG later this spring. The project can be artwork to be hung in the store, an in-store performance, or another idea you may have!

How to apply: The application is available online (below) or you can print out the application and return it to UG if you prefer. However, we recommend you complete the application below and email it to ugarts@thecorp.org by 11:59PM on March 16th, 2012.

Questions:

1) Why are you attracted to the medium of art you are submitting?

2) Envision the Hilltop in 10 years. How do you feel that the arts can be more integrated into student life at Georgetown? Specifically, how can Uncommon Grounds and The Corp at large aid in improving the arts culture at Georgetown?

3) What is your project idea? How would you showcase your project in Uncommon Grounds? Include a detailed financial breakdown, the materials you would need to complete your project, and an estimated completion time.

4) Finally, why do you deserve to win this scholarship?
