What is Student Storage?
Student Storage is a service offered by Students of Georgetown, Inc. (The Corp) to Georgetown students looking to store their belongs during the summer or during a spring study abroad semester. The Corp has run a variety of different shipping and storage programs since the early 1980s. After more than two decades of service, we offer the lowest prices for the most reliable service in the DC area.
What services does Student Storage provide?
Currently, the Corp offers storage for the summer, spring, fall, and entire year to accommodate students who study abroad for any regular term. In addition, we sell packing supplies at all of our sales locations in May and December.
Do you have restrictions on the types of things that can be stored?
According to our storage contract, your valuables will not be covered under our insurance policy. Therefore, we strongly advise against storing cash, furs, jewelry, stereos, computers, and electronic equipment.
What if I can't pick up my boxes on the day I chose?
All boxes must be picked up on the day listed on the contract. If you find out that you will not be on campus that day, you may give written permission for a friend to pick up your belongings. They must bring that permission and your contract to the pick-up site on the appropriate day. Any boxes not picked up will incur a fee of $25 per item per day. So don't be late!
What is the storage facility like?
Your items will be stored in a climate-controlled facility with no public access. Once we have your boxes, we’ll keep them safe and cool.
Can I get my things early?
No, The Corp cannot access your things until the listed pick-up days. If you will not be returning to campus, you can contact the director at storage@thecorp.org BEFORE the pick-up dates.
If I did not ask for early pick-up but will be returning for NSO, can I get my things early?
Unfortunately, no. Early pick-up items are stored separately from regular pick-up items and do not return on the same dates. So plan ahead!Do you provide packing supplies?
Packing tape, bubble wrap, and permanent markers will be on sale at all sales locations at very affordable prices.
Can I just purchase boxes without purchasing a contract?
Do you pickup directly at my door?
Yes, we will be able to come to your dorm room or apartment at the time for which you register. Corpies will arrive at each dorm on a pre-determined date. Be sure to check the Web site for information about when you can expect to have your items picked up.
Can I get my boxes delivered back to my room in August?
Due to the volume of items that must be returned on the same day, delivery will not be available. All items will be in the storage tent at the announced distribution site.
What if I can't be present for a pickup or delivery?
You may have your roommate or a friend wait in your room for the pick-up or delivery. However, make sure that your friend has both written consent and your copy of the contract available when we arrive. If no one is in your room at the time of pick-up, you will need to bring your things to the drop-off locations. Refunds for the pick-up fee will not be issued.
What do I do if there is a problem with my items?
First, contact The Corp at storage@thecorp.org. All claims must be filed within thirty days. You can find a claims form here. You must send this completed form to the registered address listed for The Corp on the storage contract.
What forms of payment do you accept?
The Corp accepts all major credit cards.
Can I cancel my contract?
Unfortunately, The Corp cannot issue refunds for the purchase of supplies or a storage contract.
Are there any additional fees?
At the time of pick-up, all packages will be assessed for overweight fees and charged $1 for every pound that they are overweight. In addition, all boxes not picked up on the day stated on the contract will incur a fee of $25 per box per day.
