The Corp strives to continuously give back to the Georgetown community.
The Social Impact Committee, Corp Service and Outreach Committee (CSOC) and Sustainability Committee all specialize in different areas in order to cohesively foster a supportive environment for students and others.
THE SOCIAL IMPACT COMMITTEE
The Corp’s Social Impact Committee’s mission is to incubate, support, and develop new initiatives that make a direct positive impact on the Georgetown community and beyond. The committee seeks to engage, to inspire, and to create meaningful solutions to real problems affecting campus life.
Themes for the 2016-2017 Academic Year
This year, the Social Impact Committee plans to think critically about how to engage the Georgetown community on the following issues:
- Socio-economic Inclusivity
- Health & Wellness

Social Impact Teams
The Social Impact Committee is composed of a Chair, Vice Chair, two external members, and liaisons from each service. Each liaison serves as the ‘point person’ for their Corp service’s Social Impact Team. Each Team is responsible for leading individualized projects, such as donating the service’s tips to different organizations, using store space to highlight different on-campus efforts, and to help the service engage with different social justice issues.
The Corp helped to fund a student-led, one-day workshop aimed at introducing Georgetown students to design thinking. Students were taught to apply methods of problem solving and innovative thinking to address problems endemic to the Georgetown and D.C. communities. Read more about the workshop here.
The Corp partnered with a number of other organizations, including the Clinton Global Initiative, to sponsor the creation of ‘Unsung Heroes,’ an initiative that aims to raise awareness of the personal stories of employees on college campuses who work behind the scenes to ensure that universities runs smoothly. Check out their Facebook page here.
The Corp collaborated with Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and Working Poor and the D.C. Schools Project to fund costs associated with the U.S. citizenship process for campus workers. Proceeds from the scholarship will go towards helping employees cover the costs of English-language tutoring as well as filing and application fees. Read more about the scholarship here.
