Vital Vittles

Vital Vittles

Opened in January 1973, Vital Vittles was the first storefront of the newly created Students of Georgetown, Inc. Originally a food co-op located in the lobby of New South, the store sold only yogurt and Coke at first.

Vital Vittles moved to the Leavey Center in August of 1988 and has been there ever since, growing into a full-service grocery store, carrying everything from frozen foods and produce to meat and cereal, among the many items that we offer at lower prices than nearby grocery stores.

Vittles also offers a wide selection of sandwiches, chips, and drinks for meals on the go and an ever-growing variety of vegetarian, vegan, and organic products. Recent additions to the store include New York’s famous Hale & Hearty Soups, prepackaged salads from The Hilltoss and gourmet sandwiches from Taylor Gourmet and local favorite Broodjes and Bier. We are always looking to make the store better, so be on the look out for more new arrivals that are right around the corner.

Traditions Scholarship

Vital Vittles, the oldest service of The Corp, has stood the test of time. With age, Vittles has come to develop and honor its many traditions and those of Georgetown. This scholarship, rooted in this legacy, is meant to honor the various traditions that students value and help ensure that those traditions can be maintained for another year.
